This section holds examples of my deisgn work. Most of the plans were made using VectorWorks; in fact, much of the design work was done directly in VectorWorks. Technology is making the world more accessible, and jobs easier. As soon as I learned how to use CAD and land modeling programs, I was hooked. Few things will ever replace a sketch for speed and active thought processes, but the computer makes almost every other stage of the design process easier.

I have found many advantages to using a CAD program throughout the entire design process. I've learned to use layers and channels in much the same way that traditional designers have used layers of tracing paper. I can turn the layers on or off as the design develops, and I never have to lose an idea I had last week; it's preserved in the invisible layers.

Also, using a CAD program to design also allows you to make changes up until moments before you print it. In the studio, I did not have to freeze the design hours before the deadline so that I'd have time to make a clean copy.

Honestly, though, the best thing about using the computer: Ctrl-z; the "undo" command. How I've sometimes wished that command would work with paper and pencil!
